12.1.20 Sunday Drink Specials
Come and join us for a drink at the bar every Sunday from 3pm. All of these are just £3 each.
A selection of ales, gin and wine to choose from – there is definitely something for everyone.
And remember – we are dog friendly too!
17.9.19 Hiruzta Winery, Hondaribbia
Today we had the pleasure of visiting one of our wine producers at the Hiruzta winery in Hondarribia.
They produce the fantastic Txakoli wine (pronounced shack-oh-lee) that is seen poured from an impressive height in all of San Sebastians bars, late in to the night.
We can’t recommend this wine enough. It’s an elegant, modern version of a traditional wine with flavours of citrus and tropical fruit, aromas of pear and apple and a slight spritz too.
31.7.19 Floreat Pottery
We are so excited to be working alongside local artist Clare Negus starting out with her own pottery business.
Clares creativity will hopefully soon be seen on some of our crockery used within the restaurant. We are really looking forward to not only being able to support another likeminded small independant business, but also to have some beautiful bespoke pieces to share with you in the restaurant!
We look forward to sharing more of her designs and ideas with you all soon
9.7.19 The last day boat out of Southwold
Meet Gary – the very last trawler day boat out of Southwold harbour.
Gary usually goes out 7 days a week to trawl for the beautiful fish that we have here on Suffolks own coast line.
Alongside an article soon to be in the Suffolk magazine, Grant is keen to try and get people eating more fish. Fisherman like Gary are becoming harder to come by and this is only due to less of a demand for fish. In a day and age where the importance for sustainability is becoming more apparent every day, Grant and I are keen to promote the importance of using these individuals where you can get the most fantastic fresh fish right on your door step.
Keep an eye out in the Suffolk magazine, we are really excited to share the finished article with you all and are so honoured to have been featured alongside an issue that we feel is becoming increasingly important.
7.6.19 Stowmarket Food and Drink Festival
Grant had the pleasure of cooking on stage once more after being invited by our friends at Infusions to do a cooking demo at the popular Stowmarket food and drink festival this year.
A great turn out, and always good to see a mix of familiar and new faces!
Grant filleted a lovely large plaice, and pan fried alongside a warm tartare sauce and samphire – a take on a very popular dish currently on the menu.
29.5.19 The Suffolk Show
Archant had kindly asked us to come along and provide a bar within their hospitality tent at this years Suffolk Show. We provided a selection of cocktails including our favourite Gin and Tonic from the Heart of Suffolk distillery, Aperol Spritz and Rhubarb Mules for Archants guests on the day.
A great two days had by all and lots of new faces that we hope to see along in the pub soon.
As well as this, alongside Ice Cook School and one of our suppliers Infusions Grant was asked to do a cooking demo up on stage at the Adnams Cookery Theatre. A great opportunity to meet some new people and show what The Kings Arms has to offer. Grant cooked a similar dish to the one for his awards cook off, a gorgeous Brill dish with samphire and warm tartare sauce.
29.4.19 EAT Suffolk Food and Drink Awards 2019
We were surprised and honoured to this year be a part of the Suffolk food and drink awards after being nominated in two categories at this years finals! Last night we went along to Milsoms Kesgrave Hall to celebrate alongside other nominees as we waited to find out the winners in the Chef of the Year category and Pub of the Year.
Sadly we did not come home with any awards but had a fantastic night celebrating and being part of all the event had to offer and have our fingers crossed to be a part of it all again next year
